Installation & Setup
Q: How do I install a Chrome extension?
A: Simply click on any extension card on our Chrome Extensions page, which will take you to the Chrome Web Store. Click “Add to Chrome” and the extension will be installed automatically.
Q: Are the extensions compatible with other browsers?
A: Our extensions are designed for Google Chrome. They may work with Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Opera) but full compatibility is not guaranteed.
Q: Do I need to create an account?
A: No! All our extensions work without any registration or login. Simply install and start using them immediately.
Using the Extensions
Q: How do I access an installed extension?
A: After installation, click the puzzle piece icon in your Chrome toolbar to see all extensions. You can pin your favorite extensions for quick access.
Q: Do the extensions work offline?
A: Yes! All our extensions work completely offline. They don’t require an internet connection to function.
Q: Can I use the extensions on mobile?
A: Chrome extensions are only available for desktop browsers. For mobile devices, please visit freetexttools.org to use our web-based tools.
Privacy & Data
Q: Do you collect my data?
A: No. We don’t collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All processing happens locally in your browser. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Q: Why do some extensions request permissions?
A: Our extensions request minimal permissions, only what’s necessary for their functionality. We’re transparent about permission usage in each extension’s Chrome Web Store listing.
Troubleshooting
Q: The extension isn’t working. What should I do?
A: Try these steps:
- Refresh the page where you’re using the extension
- Click the extension icon to reopen it
- Restart your browser
- Check if the extension is enabled in
chrome://extensions/ - Try uninstalling and reinstalling the extension
Q: The extension disappeared from my toolbar
A: Click the puzzle piece icon in your Chrome toolbar, find the extension, and click the pin icon to keep it visible.
Q: I’m getting an error message
A: Please contact us with:
- The extension name
- The error message (screenshot if possible)
- Your Chrome version (find it at
chrome://version/) - Steps to reproduce the issue
Features & Updates
Q: Can you add [specific feature] to an extension?
A: We love hearing feature requests! Please contact us with your suggestion. While we can’t guarantee all features will be added, we carefully consider all user feedback.
Q: How often are extensions updated?
A: We regularly update our extensions for bug fixes, new features, and Chrome compatibility. Updates are automatic through the Chrome Web Store.
Q: Why don’t you have [specific type of] extension?
A: We’re always expanding our collection. If you have a suggestion, please let us know!
